1. What is Plusnet Pro?
It's our broadband account dedicated to online gaming, (but also great for downloads and music). Gaming and VoIP traffic is prioritised at all times, plus it gives low latency and pings for a fast gaming experience.
It was sold between 17th February 2009 and 18th April 2011 and it offers ADSL2+ speeds where available.
[Top]2. How much is Plusnet Pro?
Pro had an introductory price of £16.49 for the first three months.
After this, the price became £22.99 in low cost areas, or stayed at £16.49 in other areas.
| Product | Exchange Category | Cost for first 3 months | Cost after 3 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plusnet Pro | Market 1&2 | £16.49 | £22.99 |
| Market 3 | £16.49 | £16.49 |
3. What's the usage allowance?
Plusnet Pro comes with an 20GB usage allowance. However you can customise your product by setting a maximum amount to spend on usage each month. See Question 5.
[Top]4. When is usage counted?
Usage is counted from 8am to Midnight.
[Top]5. What if I go over my monthly usage allowance?
An extra 5GB will be added to your allowance for the month. This costs £5 which will be added to your next bill.
To control how much you spend per month, use the Manage My Usage tool (found in My Account > Connection Settings).
You can use this to set a maximum monthly amount to spend on usage (ontop of your monthly subscription price).
- Go to the Manage My Usage tool and enter the maximum amount you're willing to pay each month on usage (ontop of your subscription price).
- E.g. let's say that you pay £15.99 for your broadband subscription each month. You've got the option of:
- Not spending any more than £15.99 each month. So you'd enter a limit of £0
- Setting a limit on what you're willing to spend on extra usage each month. Do this by entering an amount in multiples of £5 - e.g. £5, £10, £15, £20 etc. (Or if you're on an older product you should enter this in multiples of £2 - e.g. £2, £4, £6, £8 etc.). This will add extra usage at a cost of £5 per 5GB
- If you decide that you need to change your maximum extra monthly spend from month to month, it's not a problem. If this happens you'd simply need to increase or decrease the amount you're willing to spend.
If your usage exceeds your spending limit, your speed will be rate limited to 256Kb/s and all p2p, usenet and FTP traffic will be blocked. It will remain like this unless you remove or raise your spending limit, or until your next billing day.
[Top]6. What's the referral value for Plusnet Pro?
You can see the referral value for this product by looking at our My Referrals Archive page.
[Top]7. What are the download speeds?
These are the speeds we aim for on Plusnet Pro.
- If you're not sure what the categories mean, see the key underneath the table
- These speeds are not guaranteed, and you may see lower if the network is busy. Similarly if the network is quiet these limits will be relaxed and speeds will be higher
- Before you report a problem, make sure you read our tips on How to get the best broadband speed
