- Check or edit an existing email account
You can use these instructions to set up email for your PlusNet email address or email for a domain hosted on your account.
1. Set up Outlook 2003 for the first time
-
If this is the first time you've run Outlook 2003, the first thing you'll see the startup window, click Next.

-
You'll be asked if you want to configure an email account, make sure Yes is selected and click Next.

-
Make sure POP3 is selected, click Next and go to Section 3 - Enter your account details.

2. Set up an additional email address
-
Open Outlook, go to Tools on the top bar and select Email Accounts.

-
The Email Accounts window will appear. Make sure Add a new email account is selected and click Next

-
Make sure POP3 is selected, click Next and go to Section 3 - Enter your account details.

3. Enter your account details
-
Fill out the Internet Email Settings window with your account details.
If you're not sure what to enter, each section you need to fill in is explained below.

-
User Information
- Your Name: Your full name or the name you'd like people to see when you send them email from this account.
- Email address: Enter the email address you're setting up, this could be a PlusNet address (yourname@username.plus.com) or a hosted domain address (something@yourdomain.co.uk)
Logon Information
To set up your first Plusnet email address (What's my first Plusnet email address?), use the username and password you log into this website with.
If you're setting up an Additional mailbox (What's an Additional Mailbox?), you'll need to use the mailbox username (in the format username+mailboxname) and password. Check the email we sent after the mailbox was created if you're not sure what these are.
Server Information
Enter the following for the mail servers:
- Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.plus.net
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): relay.plus.net
Click Next when you've filled in all three sections.
-
That should be everything you need to do, so click Finish to close wizard.

-
Finally Click Send/Receive and your email will be downloaded to the Inbox.
4. Check or edit an existing email account
If you need to check or change your email settings on Microsoft Outlook, follow these steps:
-
Go to Tools on the top bar and select Email Accounts.

-
The Email Accounts window will appear. Make sure View or change existing email accounts is selected and click Next

-
Click on the name of the mail account you want to edit and click Change...

-
You'll now see the settings screen, it's the same as the one used to set up a new account. Take a look at Step 3 - Enter your account details (above) for more information on this.
Click Next and then Finish when you're done.
