Changing DNS Settings in Mac OSX

This article gives you the settings needed to manually assign DNS (Domain Name Service) servers for your Internet connection using Mac OSX.

You can change your Mac's default DNS (Domain Name Server) settings to specify a certain DNS server or IP address to use for a certain domain.

Change the DNS

1. Click the Apple menu (top left-hand of the screen) > System Preferences.

   

2. Double-click the Network icon.

   

3. Click the adapter you want to change (this is normally Built-In-Ethernet) and click Configure.

   

4. Click the TCP/IP tab. If your Mac is configured to use a dynamic IP address you can enter the DNS server settings in the Domain Name Servers (Optional) box. If you want to configure your IP address manually, choose Manually from the drop-down Configure box on the TCP/IP tab.

   
5. Enter the DNS server settings:
   • Preferred DNS server: 212.159.13.49
   • Alternate DNS server: 212.159.13.50
   
6. Click Apply Now.
